Autumn Support Request
We are grateful for the positive response to our Autumn Support request and we offer our sincerest gratitude to those who have offered and continue to offer dana to the Salida Insight Meditation Community. If you have not had a chance to contribute and wish to do so, please consider making a monthly recurring, a one-time, or a yearly contribution of any size to support the SIMC efforts that allow us to continue to be a refuge for our community.
For anyone who is unable to attend our Annual Meeting in person, we will have a Zoom-In option available. Here is the link to connect.
Much Gratitude for a New Heater
Our Sangha is truly blessed! Thanks to a generous donor, we now have a new, much quieter, and much more efficient heater. Your Sangha house is now even more incredibly warm and cozy. Come bask in the warmth of your community this winter at one of our sits!
Sunday's 5:00pm
Tuesday's 12:00 Noon (and also via Zoom - get the link here).
Thursday's 12:00 Noon
With a full heart, we thank the donor's generosity and beautiful gift of warmth!
Sangha House Manager Needed
Your SIMC House is in need of a House Manager. Duties include a few monthly items, keeping an eye on the house of any maintenance concerns, a couple of annual items, and notifying the board of concerns/needs. None of these will take much time but it would be very helpful to have someone tend to these responsibilities. If you feel this could be you, please reach out to the board via email to Sangha@salidasangha.org. We thank you for your consideration.
Online New Year's Retreat
With Liz Powell and Denise Ackert
Dec 31, 2024 (9am - 11:59pm) - Jan 1, 2025 (8:45am 3:00pm)
In this retreat, we’ll attune to the body, heart and mind, nourishing the depth of compassion and the joy of wholesomeness. Through this renewal, we can bring benefit to ourselves and the world.
There will be meditation instructions, sitting and walking meditation, and dharma talks. This retreat is open to both experienced practitioners and those new to the practice.
Library Corner
We invite you to visit your SIMC Library which contains many titles on wide-ranging Buddhist topics. We now have a dedicated space for books new to the library. Take a moment to come in and explore, and of course borrow, any of the "New Books" selections or other titles that catch your interest!
Titles the Library Would Like to Add:
If you happen to have these books at home and are ready to part with them, we would really appreciate your generous donation.
Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Compassion by Marshall Rosenburg
A Year to Live by Stephen Levine
Real Life: the Journey from Isolation to Openness by Sharon Salzberg
Five Invitations: What Death Can Teach Us About Living Fully by Frank Ostaseski
